Why Should You See a Private Dentist?

Private dentistry (sometimes called independent dentistry) refers to any dental work carried out independently of the National Health Service. When you are seen by a private dentist he or she is able to spend much more time with you; this enables your dentist to carry out treatment to a higher standard. There is more opportunity to offer advanced techniques and, consequently, a better choice for you. Working outside the constraints of the NHS means that materials of a higher standard can be used to achieve a better result. There is also scope for the dentist to chose superior dental laboratories that are able to produce a higher quality product.

An example of a "visible" benefit to a patient would be the possibility of having tooth coloured fillings in the back teeth. This treatment would not be available to patients under the NHS.

Fully Computerised Dental Records

The practice is fully computerised and Year 2000 compliant. We use "ExACT" practice management software, marketed by Software of Excellence. This company has world-wide expertise in dental software. Their programs contribute to the efficient running of the practice and give us instant access to all accounts, documents and dental records, including X-ray images.
Denplan Care

Denplan is the country's leading preventive dental care programme.
For a monthly fee, which is dependent on the number & type of fillings present and oral health, all routine and preventive work is covered. For major restorative care, such as crowns and bridges the patient only pays the laboratory costs.

Denplan is a maintenance contract and not insurance, although Denplan do arrange supplementary insurance for trauma and emergency cover.
